What We Do

The Woodland Community College Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) Program provides quality education and training for care providers of children and youth in out-of-home care, enabling these providers to meet the child’s educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs.

We provide free classes and workshops to individuals who are:

  • Parenting a child placed in out-of-home care and want to improve  parenting skills
  • Taking care of a relative’s child
  • Required to complete the state mandated foster care education requirements
  • Interested in being a foster or adoptive parent

We aim to educate, inspire and support caregivers so that you can make a positive difference in the lives of the children in your homes and hearts. Our goal is to help you provide a stable, secure home that promotes healing for our foster youth.

In addition, we help current and former foster youth (14-21) in gaining the life skills necessary in order to become self-sufficient and successful adults through the Independent Living Program.
