Evening One, October 17th, BUILDING HEALTH ATTACHMENT, how easily it can go off course, and as caregivers the need to build safety, trust, and a kind stable relationship to help a child put the pieces of their life back together.

Evening Two, October 24th,  REFLECTING ON BEHAVIOR in BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS, that “bounce back” and being able to get up and over the challenges that life places in front of each of one us.  We will share methods to build attachment and ways to foster resilience.

Research has shown us again and again that healthy relationships can single-handedly confer resilience to human beings facing stressful and potentially traumatic circumstances. Secure attachments— those relationships where there is a consistent, warm, attuned, responsive adult—confer the greatest resilience to the developing nervous systems of our kids. Of the children who grow up in the extremes of poverty, abuse and neglect, the ones who bounce back the best and somehow beat the odds are the ones with at least one person in their life who cares for them and is available on a consistent basis. It seems we are built by design to thrive in attuned and responsive relationships. Love nourishes and buffers our hearts. It is a positive, stable caring relationship that serves to mend the trauma of abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.  It is finding an adult a child can connect with – attach to – and rely upon while building an internal base of confidence and resilience.  Resilience is that ability to bounce back from something challenging, difficult or traumatic.  It is an important factor in being able to move and step forward.  Join us for one or both evenings of class, as Debra Wiegel, MFT, leads a discussion to help us each find ways to be emotionally, psychologically, physically, spiritually, and mentally present for our children and helping give them confidence and character traits to foster personal resilient.
