Resource parenting asks us to open our homes, our hearts, and often our lives to others—but caring deeply does not mean giving without limits. Healthy boundaries help create the safety, predictability, and stability that both caregivers and children need to thrive. This interactive Zoom workshop will explore the many boundaries that affect everyday family life, including time, personal space, emotional energy, finances and resources, privacy, communication, relationships, and personal responsibilities. Participants will consider how to recognize when boundaries are becoming stretched, how to communicate limits with kindness and clarity, and how to say “no” when necessary, without feeling guilty.
Special attention will be given to relative and kinship caregivers, who may find boundaries particularly challenging when long-standing family relationships, expectations, loyalties, and responsibilities overlap with their new caregiving role. Healthy boundaries are not about shutting people out—they are about creating a safe space in which relationships can grow. Participants will leave with practical strategies for protecting their own well-being while continuing to provide the love, connection, and stability children and youth need.
