Resource parenting is both rewarding and demanding — no one is meant to do it alone. This engaging session explores how meaningful connections and intentional support systems strengthen resource families and improve outcomes for children and youth in care. Participants will learn how to identify, build, and sustain their own “circle of support” — including extended family, friends, mentors, professionals, and community partners. Through discussion, reflection, and practical exercises, participants will:

  • Understand why connection and belonging are essential for both caregivers and children.
  • Explore the impact of isolation and compassion fatigue on parenting and family stability.
  • Develop strategies to engage supportive networks that promote resilience and well-being.
  • Learn how to access community resources and collaborate effectively with service providers.

This class reminds caregivers that connection is protection — for children, and for the adults who care for them. Together, we’ll uncover the power of relationships that sustain resource families through every challenge and celebrate every success.
