Many children, teens and young adults, within the Child Welfare System struggle with “attachment”, because of problems in their early relationships. Attachment struggles are often associated with neglect, child abuse, parental struggles with mental health, the abrupt absence or separation from caregivers, and even overuse of technology and media. This workshop will address the signs and symptoms of attachment issues in an infant or child, such as tantrums, acting out, manipulative, passive-aggressive behavior, and/or indiscriminate affection with strangers. You will learn how quickly a “safe attachment” can go off track, the four basic attachment styles, and strategies to regain a secure attachment that allow stronger, more positive relationships and life outcomes.
