What Are Tax Credits?
The California Foster Youth Tax Credit (FYTC) is cash back tax credit. This “cash back” tax credit reduces what you owe, then once you owe $0, you get to keep whatever is left of the credits. You get cash back. Most, over 90% of current and former foster youth ages 18-25 owed no taxes and instead got cash back. So you may get up to $1,154 cash back from the California government by filing your taxes!
