Sacramento Job Corps is a FREE supportive live-work community and safe space to help you gain work skills. The Sacramento program provides housing, meals, books & supplies, training clothing, child care and a living allowance. The Sacramento campus has a furnished dormitories, cafeteria, wellness center and recreation area. Job Corps is fully funded by the federal government, which means it’s always FREE for students.
What will I learn?
Skills needed to work for private security companies. Security personnel provide surveillance around the clock by working in eight-hour shifts or longer with rotating schedules. This job often requires working nights and weekends, with part-time and full-time opportunities. Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program.
Students should also consider pursuing Advanced Security and Protective Services at Job Corps as part of their career pathway.
Who can get this FREE training?
- Be 18 years or older
- Have a clean criminal record
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers)
- May involve a criminal background check, and completion of a training program meeting federal content requirements.
- May need to complete and pass introductory and career preparation courses and/or meet math and reading requirements

What the living allowance at Job Corps?
Throughout your training, you will receive a biweekly basic living allowance. As your training progresses, your living allowance will increase. After you graduate, Job Corps can help you get started on your journey with a transition allowance. This allowance is based on your academic and career technical training achievement while in Job Corps.
